Science Notebook

The science notebook is one  very important tool for success in science.   The notebook is a
3 ring binder with pockets in the front/back or a pocket divider.  The notebook is a record of
everything that we are doing in class.  Parents should be able to look at their child's
notebook and see exactly what their child is doing in the science classroom.

The following items should be found in your notebook:
1. Class Guide & Syllabus
2. All "Critical Vocabulary" for each unit of study
3. Bellwork & Daily activities
4. Notes,  Guides, Keys, etc
5. Journal for logging data, observations, experiments & investigations
(tucked in pocket in front of notebook)
6. Study Guides for Tests!
7. Don't forget your Table of Contents ~ how else will you & I know where everything is?

When notebooks are checked they will be scored for items in the current unit of study only.
Do not throw away anything just because I have already checked it.
Some items will be referred to repeatedly in future activities
( such as the R.E.S.P.O.N.S.E. handout).

Hints for organizing your notebook:

1. Put everything in notebook (even handouts)
2. Give everything a title and a date.
3. If you are absent get missing pages from dependable neighbor.
4. Everything we do in class will be on tests ~ do it,  keep it and study it!

How will your notebook be scored?

Table of Contents (20 points)
Order & Organization (20 points)
Contents (60 points)
(vocabulary, notes, "how to's", daily activities, written bellwork)
