Each week, I will be
sending you a link to the Shark Byte Newsletter.
This newsletter will be e-mailed to all staff, SBDM,
PTO, Board Members, our Instructional Supervisors, and
the Superintendent because I want everyone to know how
great you are. This is a newsletter to encourage
you, lift you up and recognize you for the outstanding
and wonderful feats you perform continuously.
These praises can be for any staff member no matter what
their job title. We are all here to increase
academic performance whether it be directly in the
classroom, keeping their spaces clean or feeding them
delicious hot meals. Anyone can send these praises
to me. Strive to send them to me by Friday and I
will have the newsletter out to you over the weekend.
I am going to start off
our Shark Smiles by recognizing the following:
- All the Shark Staff
for soaking up and planning for Formative
Assessment.
- Heather Crowl for
presenting an outstanding teacher friendly PD.
- Paula McLin, Carol
Payne and Amy Baker for rolling up your sleeves and
jumping in to team up with our teachers during team
planning.
- Everyone who
welcomed me with smiles, encouragement, and
delicious food...yummy.
- Paula Thomas & Janet
Ferguson for working extra time to help me with
tasks to open school.
- Tony and Pam for
working hard to get our school polished and shining
for our students because they deserve a beautiful
clean place to learn.

We Are the
Sharks!
Sharks
accelerate like a torpedo through the clear ocean water
in the same way we will accelerate our student's
learning.
Just
like the sharks powerful eyes with vision at at any
distance ; we will keep our eyes on the goal no matter
how far away it may seem.
Just like
the shark, our students will have an insatiable appetite
for validation, praise, genuine caring, gentleness, and
the highest quality education we can feed them.
Just like
the sharp teeth of the shark, our students will tear
through the standards to mastery learning at high
levels.
Our goal
is to rise above the dark waters and glisten in the sun
just like the colorful dorsal fin of the shark.
We are
the Sharks!

Our goal this year is to
work smarter and dig deeper into the standards to
achieve mastery. We are on our way up the list!
Before I came on board you decided to no longer accept
the status quo! You have set high expectations and our
students will respond.
Keep the Cycle for
Success in front of you on your desk and refer to it
often. Make it your way and the way we do business
at Shearer Elementary. Follow up
with the LEAD Log that focuses on the outcomes based on
standards, with multiple forms of assessment then
planning how to engage your students in a manner that
will guarantee your students to "get it". Put
formative assessment to use in your classroom. Not
only put it to use, act on the immediate data you gather
from those formative assessments.
Paula McLin will be a
valuable support to each and everyone of you in the
areas of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment!

We are
technology rich in our beautiful building. Two
resources we have at our fingertips this year are
1. The new version of
iLearn with curriculum documents, pacing guides, and
common assessments. Mike placed this icon on our
Shearer Home Page. You may also click on this icon.

2. The
Curriculum Portal
Technology Integration online resources.
